YEAR FIVE
Hello and welcome to the Year 5 page. Here you’ll find important information about your child’s class and the learning experiences ahead.
Year 5 is an exciting and important stage in your child’s journey through Key Stage 2. As the challenges grow, so too does the opportunity for your child to build independence, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. We strive to create a classroom environment that is inclusive, inspiring, and full of curiosity.
Throughout the year, children will explore a wide range of topics across the curriculum, while continuing to develop their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. We encourage critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, helping children to become thoughtful and motivated learners.
As always, we value strong communication between school and home. If you ever have any questions or would like to talk about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to get in touch—our door is always open.
Warm regards,
Miss Wagstaff

TRANSITION FOR SEPTEMBER 2025
To help aid transition, we have created a short presentation to help introduce you to your new teacher and a word document to help you learn more about your new class. We hope this helps.

HOME LEARNING
While we don't set weekly homework tasks for your child to complete we do see the benefits of regular reading, spelling and maths fluency practice. Below are links to two maths programmes that will improve your child's maths fluency and automaticity (Numbots - EY/KS1 and TTRockstars KS1/2). Alongside these programmes we advise that children read either their decodable book or love of reading book daily and also practice their spellings from the list below.
