Wellbeing Leaders

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF AN WELLBEING LEADER?
Wellbeing Leaders are a valued part of our leadership team at Whiston Worrygoose. They help to promote positive mental health, kindness and emotional wellbeing across our school community. Introduced early to the importance of wellbeing through our curriculum, Wellbeing Leaders take a more hands-on role in supporting others. They help to create a happy, safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels listened to, valued and supported. Through their role, Wellbeing Leaders develop empathy, responsibility and an understanding of how to look after themselves and others, both in school and beyond.

HOW CAN I BECOME AN WELLBEING LEADER?
Each class will select a Wellbeing Leader at the start of each academic year. Wellbeing Leaders are chosen by writing a letter of application, and teachers will also consider how the child has shown kindness, empathy and a genuine interest in supporting the wellbeing of others.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE OF AN WELLBEING LEADER LOOK LIKE DAY TO DAY?

Wellbeing Leaders take part in a range of meaningful and enjoyable activities. During one selected lunchtime per week, Wellbeing Leaders meet with members of staff to discuss how we can further improve wellbeing across our school. In these meetings, they share ideas, plan activities and reflect on how pupils are feeling.

Wellbeing Leaders may help to organise wellbeing events, support initiatives such as mindfulness or kindness weeks, gather pupil voice through surveys, and suggest ways to make school an even more positive place to learn and play. They may also have opportunities to share their ideas with senior leadership and school governors.

By becoming a Wellbeing Leader, pupils can make a real difference to the happiness and wellbeing of our school community, helping to ensure Whiston Worrygoose remains a caring, supportive and welcoming place for all.
